Hi,

explain the basics of the game, pool, predator prey, ousting. a little of the background.
start the game with vampires only, no library cards.
explain taking the basic actions, blocking, combat consists of each vamp striking for 1 at close, hunt and leave torpor and rescue from torpor are unblockable.
explain influencing.
play a few rounds. i have found out that the understanding of this part of the game is cruicial to success.
then when everybody is comfortable with this, add the library cards type by type, explainin the mechanics that go hand in hand with theese cards, and again play a few rounds after each card type is introduced.
i chose this order:
action cards
action modifiers
reaction cards (now baffle them with stealth and intercept and blockin order)
equipment, ally, retainer
combat (thats the hardest part
political actions.
if someone is about to be ousted during this introductory game, just let him take 10 pool, so that he can go on playing.
then let that sink in for a little, answering questions.
then let them play a round on their own with four player tables, helping them if they make a mistake and answer questions.
this may take some time, but i think it is worth it, since all mechanics have time to sink in before the next one is introduced.
it might also help to have printed out verions of the rules handy, since the tiny rule book is a little uncomfortable to read
this might not be the ultimate method, but it worked ok for me and the players i've introduced to the game. of course, if you have a tcg crack, knowing a few games, then you might want to speed things up a little, or even a lot
