Hello,

First of all, sorry for the english and the spam.

The Dutch tournament scene is fading away and hopefully we can counter that trend by assuming a leading role in the Dutch VTES scene. In order to achieve this I would like to organize a tournament every month in Utrecht. But for this to be successful I need to have a steady player base.

For a long time now German players make up a good amount of tournament players and this is great, but are you willing to come to Utrecht every month? Or is that a bit optimistic and is once every 2 months more then enough?
While the Joker is a good place to host the small tournaments the future tournaments will be held on sunday. While I can get the Joker once in a few months on sunday it will be easier to have another back up place. However this place requires space rent, another reason why I need a player base I can count on.

So the actual question:

Who is willing to come to Utrecht every month/every two months?

for me personally, I would say: Depends.

I hope that we will see tournaments also in Tilburg from time to time - and we still have not heard from Eindhoven. For me, tournaments there would be also ones to which I would have to travel quite a bit. And of course, there are tournaments in Germany which I would like to visit.

All in all, I think that for me (speaking as a player, not as a Prince of Bochum), a trip to Utrecht once every 4-6 months would be realistic.

Unfortunately Utrecht is a bit too far away for us from Frankfurt .

I think the domain Cologne/Bonn would consider attending some of those tourneys, sadly we are lacking players owning a Car

As a regular particpant of the Utrecht tournaments I would consider every two months to be acceptable. In my experience usually there are 1-2-3-4 players from Bochum or Gelsenkirchen who then want to attend also.

I think every month is a little bit too much. 6 tournaments/year in Utrecht are sufficient I guess.

Ok thanks for your replies. A bi-monthly tournament would be possible. Of course I would like to see more tournaments in other places like Tilburg, Eindhoven (currently prince-less) and Hilversum. Some tournaments near the border would also be great!

Too many tournaments could have the opposite to the effect you want - with more tourneys people are less inclined to make the effort to attend any given one, so you get less players each time.

I definately couldn't make one tourney each month... every 2 months maybe, but even that may be too much for me.

Sorry, I meant Nijmegen - the Prince there has talked about having a "Praxis Seizure" event, but as of yet, nothing has happened...

Otherwise, I tend to agree with Ed - if you do events too often, people like myself (who would only visit a VTES tournament every two month, regardless where) will just appear randomly, instead of being focussed on one date.

Well that might be true but I would just like to see a frequent tournament scene all over the Netherlands. If that means that Utrecht needs to have a monthly/bi-monthly tournament to get things started, so be it. Of course I will slow down the amount of Utrecht tournaments if other domains start organizing something on a regular basis as well. But for now it looks like it will be a bi-monthly schedule.
